10/30 Taiwan Philharmonic US Tour

Following the Taiwan Philharmonic’s U.S. debut with the Philharmonic Society in 2016, the Los Angeles Times declared, “The Taiwan Philharmonic is overdue for a major U.S. tour.” This fall, the Taiwan Philharmonic and music director Shao-Chia Lü return to Orange County to launch their first U.S. tour.

Pianist Stephen Hough, a Commander of the British Empire, joins them as featured soloist in Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The Taiwan Philharmonic also performs “Dancing Song” by notable Taiwan composer Gordon Chin and rounds out the program with two pillars from the French repertory: Debussy’s stirring evocation of the sea La Mer and the second suite from Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé, a brilliant orchestral showpiece.
