04/20 Earthroots Volunteering at Big Oak Canyon

We’ve got big plans to make a real impact for the community here at TAP-OC. Are you ready to be a part of it? Earthroots is developing a 200-year plan for restoring and stewarding Big Oak Canyon and you are invited to assist with with these efforts!

*** All ages are welcome. Ages 12 and under require adult supervision. Ages 12-18 need an adult signature on the release form. This event will qualify for any high school students looking to complete their community service requirements. Please bring your verification form to the volunteer event to get it signed.

>> How are we going to help <<
1) Clear non-native plants, trees, and grasses from our 39-acre property
2) Restore a seasonal wetland habitat
3) Tend the orchard
4) Litter removal
5) Count animal/plant species
6) Paint a shade structure and signs
7) Enjoy the nature and some good workout with new friends!
>> What to Bring <<
All the tools will be provided, here are some suggestions of what you can bring:
A comfortable backpack with…
– Energizing, healthy snacks & lunch
– Plenty of water in a refillable container (there is limited potable water at Big Oak)
– Extra set of clothes for the ride home (in case you get wet/muddy/dirty)

– Weather-appropriate work clothes (long-sleeve and long pants suggested)
– Warm layers
– Sturdy walking shoes
– Sunscreen, sunglasses, and sunhat
